Steelwind Industries is the leader in Polymer Quenching Services. Polymer Quenching produces a cooling rate in-between water and oil. Cooling rate may be altered by varying the components in the mixture. Polymer quenches are capable of producing repeatable results with less corrosion than water and less of a fire hazard than oil. Continued repeatable results are possible with constant monitoring of the chemistry.
Some advantages of using polymer quench is for better control of distortion (particularly thin sheet metal products) and reduction of residual stresses in the quenching of larger parts such as castings and forgings. Polymers allow for a precise control over quenching speeds which is not achievable through hot water use. Polymer quenching is used for most aluminum products such as sheet material, extrusions, forgings, castings and fabricated (machined and formed) parts.
